Express Lifts testing tower
Express Lifts testing tower
Many visiting teams were treated to a trip up the famous tower prior to playing an afternoon match. The tower is 127 meters (417 feet) tall.
The tower was constructed as a tower within a tower. Here we see inside the outer shell looking up.
There are three lift shafts, one high speed lift which goes almost the length of the tower, then two smaller shafts. These go two thirds to the top. The picture above shows the stairs which are in the outer shell. The are over 500-steps from bottom to top.
A view from the top of the tower looking out over Victoria Park, Castle Station and town centre.
Almost at the foot of the tower, is Franklins Gardens, home of Northampton Rugby Football Club "The Saints".
